George Hendrickson
George, an artisan and sculptor from Westmoreland, New York, draws on a rich tapestry of global experiences and technical skills to create sculptures that delve into abstracting nature's textures and patterns. His work imagines an alternate fossil record, blending paleontological curiosity with artistic invention. George's use of industrial materials like steel, concrete and lately resins, transforming them into organic forms, echoes ancient life's remnants, conjuring a world of mythical beings.
A founding member of the Upstate Art Collective, George leverages his diverse background in sound and light engineering, alongside his expertise in sculptural media, to foster a sense of community and collaboration. This commitment not only enriches his artistic practice but also enhances the collective creative spirit, bringing together artists and the public in a shared exploration of the communal engagement with art that invites speculation and wonder.
His work within the collective serves as a way to nurture a vibrant art community, encouraging others to explore the beauty of the world's unexplored paths and the speculative possibilities of art and history.
